About the Department
The Department of Mathematics was established in the year 1919. The department offers B.Sc., M.Sc., M.Phil., and Ph.D. programmes. All the faculty members are Doctorate degree holders and are actively engaged in teaching, research and continuing education programmes. The department has organized several UGC sponsored Seminars / Conferences including three International conference. The faculty members have successfully guided 8 Ph.D. research scholars and presently guiding 10 Ph.D. research scholars. Dr. U. Rizwan, Head of the Department has authored 17 Books at different levels. Two of his books are prescribed for UG degree courses. Dr. Syed Tahir Hussainy, Dr. Zahiruddeen and Dr. V. J. Sudhakar also have authored Higher level Mathematics Books. Dr. R. Srinivasan has visited United States three times to present his Research Papers with UGC and DST financial assistance. Two Ph.D. Scholars have been awarded UGC Fellowship for carrying out their research work. Dr. R Balakrishnan has completed UGC Minor Research Project.
