Business Administration
About the Department
Originally this Department offered BA Industrial Organization Leather since 1983. This was introduced at the initiative of Islamiah College by the University of Madras, as it provided employment opportunities to the student in leather industry but from 2000 on wards the demand for the course declined substantially and there were no takers for the course. So the course was converted into Under Graduate programme in Bachelor of Business Administration. This conversion was approved by the Government of Tamil Nadu and also by Thiruvalluvar University. So BBA is offered by the department from the academic year 2004-05 as a platform to prepare young minds with positive attitude for excellent performance and committed services. It provides the right nurturing ground to enable students to pursue their entrepreneurial ambitions. Ours is the first College which offers BBA Degree Program in Aided-pattern in the whole of Tamil Nadu.
The curriculum of the three year programme (6 semesters) has been designed to enable the students to get an overview of the various aspects effectively as well as giving them an opportunity to specialise in a functional areas of management viz., Production, Marketing, Finance & Human Resource that they would like to pursue in their careers.
It also aims to develop the students’ independent thinking, decision making capability. Ours is the only College which offers BBA degree course in Aided pattern in the entire Thiruvalluvar University area.
The Department has on excellent track record in placement of graduating students in many of corporate houses in India.

Academic Performance and Behavioral Change among Online Class Attendants: Study with Reference to Digital Education Dr. M. Sadiya Sarvath In International Journal of Advance and Applied Research, , Jun 2022.
Abstract [+]
This research article investigated the impact of digital education on academic performance and behavioral change among students attending online classes, prompted by the global shift towards virtual learning environments. Leveraging a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative analysis of academic performance metrics with qualitative assessments of behavioral changes, the study built upon Nguyen's (2020) theoretical framework on digital learning's cognitive effects. It explored the transition from traditional to online classrooms and its effects on students' learning outcomes, engagement levels, and behavior, echoing Harris and Logan's (2021) findings on digital engagement. Significant patterns in academic performance correlated with students' adaptation to online learning modalities were identified, alongside shifts in study habits, time management, and social interaction, resonating with Patel's (2020) analysis of online learning's impact on student behavior. Additionally, the effectiveness of various digital tools and teaching methodologies in fostering learning environments was assessed, highlighting areas where online education may fall short compared to traditional settings. The study concluded by underscoring the need for tailored educational strategies that leverage the benefits of digital platforms, contributing to digital education research by offering insights into the nuanced effects of online learning on student performance and behavior, and setting a foundation for future studies as indicated by Zhao and Zhang's (2021) work on adaptive learning environments. |

Philanthropic Approach to CSR: Study with Reference to Islamic Philanthropy Sayed Muzammil In Journal of the Oriental Institute, Islamiah College (Autonomous), Vaniyambadi, Mar 2022.
Abstract [+]
This research article delved into the philanthropic approach to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), with a specific focus on Islamic philanthropy, offering a unique lens through which to examine CSR practices. The study was set against the backdrop of increasing global interest in ethical, socially responsible business practices, and sought to explore how the principles of Islamic philanthropy—such as Zakat (obligatory charity), Sadaqah (voluntary charity), and Waqf (endowment)—can inform and enhance CSR strategies within the corporate sector. By employing a qualitative research methodology that included case studies and interviews with business leaders who integrate Islamic philanthropic principles into their CSR initiatives, the research built on the foundational theories proposed by Rahman and Khan (2019) on the integration of religious values into business ethics. |

The Ministry of the Independent and the Republic of India: Composition and Performance Analysis of First Nehru Ministry Dr. C. Mohamed Faheem In 41st Session of South Indian History Congress, Department of History, GTN Arts College (Autonomous), Dindigul, Tamilnadu, India, Aug 2022.
Abstract [+]
This research article embarked on a comprehensive exploration of the inaugural Nehru ministry, shedding light on its formation, composition, and multifaceted performance within the nascent stages of the Republic of India. Through detailed analysis, it unraveled the intricate tapestry of political, social, and economic strategies employed by the first cabinet led by Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru post-India's independence in 1947, building upon the foundational work of Smith and Kumar (2018) who highlighted the ideological underpinnings of Nehruvian policies. Utilizing a blend of qualitative and quantitative methodologies, including archival research, policy analysis, and performance metrics, the study delved into the pioneering efforts and challenges faced by the ministry in shaping a newly sovereign nation, echoing the findings of Patel and Rao (2020) on the socio-economic reforms initiated during this period. It examined the diverse composition of Nehru's cabinet, highlighting the representation of various regions, communities, and ideologies that mirrored the pluralistic essence of India, as discussed in the seminal work of Gupta (2019) on the political inclusivity of early Indian governance. The paper assessed the cabinet's initiatives in agriculture, education, foreign policy, and industrial development, alongside their impact on the socio-economic landscape of the country, and evaluated the successes and shortcomings of these initiatives, drawing upon the analysis by Iyer (2017) on the mixed outcomes of Nehru's industrial policies. Moreover, it presented a nuanced analysis of Nehru's leadership style, his vision for a secular and democratic India, and how his philosophies influenced governance strategies, resonating with the critical examination by Desai (2021) of Nehru's secularism. The study concluded by reflecting on the foundational steps taken by the Nehru ministry in navigating the challenges of independence, laying the groundwork for India's journey towards becoming a sovereign, socialist, secular, and democratic republic, thereby contributing to the historiographical narrative established by Chatterjee and Singh (2019) on the legacy of Nehru's administration. |

Challenges and opportunities of Indian Organised Retail Entrepreneurship HABEEBUR RAHMAN T In International Seminar on Innovation and Evolving Trends in Commerce organised by PG & Research Department of Commerce, Islamiah College (Autonomous), Vaniyambadi, Feb 2019.
Abstract [+]
This study investigates the structure of the retail sector in India with special reference to supermarkets and its potential in stimulating entrepreneurial skills and knowledge. Study has found that India is dominated by huge unorganized retail sector. Now, even the organized sector is gradually increasing its share in retail sector. Supermarkets are the largest retail brand in our country. It is employing the youth in thousands in different towns, cities and all around the country. It also pays taxes which is abundantly lacking in unorganized sector. After applying many matrices on supermarkets the study found that, it is at a growing stage. It is at a stage where it is increasing as well as diversifying its operations. It has launched many attracting schemes to catch customers at a large scale. Study also finds out that indeed the supermarkets are biggest outlet in a country, but it has some limitations also. Abundantly boosting online stores are the biggest threat to retail sector entrepreneurship in India. Because, increasing purchases from online stores seem easier to customers rather than going to retail stores. |
