About the Department
The Library was established in the formative years of the College. It witnessed the College cross one milestone after another to become a mammoth monolith with more than 86,129 books on its shelves relating not only to the subjects taught in the College but also rare collections on philosophy, logic, politics and languages. The Library functions on the basis of Open Access System in which the students and staff have facilities for unlimited usage of the treasure trove
The College provides ample scope and opportunity to the students to read and learn a lot from a wide variety of newspapers, magazines and periodicals available in the Reading Room. The College subscribes to 115 national and international periodicals and magazines, and 08 newspapers. Many of the important journals are bound and preserved.
The College has a Video Library with video cassettes and CDs on various topics of current interest. For the benefit of the staff, postgraduate students and research scholars, the Library has a Computer Centre with internet facility. The college has been subscribing to more than 30,00,000 e-books and 6000+ e-journals through INFLIBNET & DELNET. The Library has NPTEL e-learning video courses and also DSpace software installed for our college Repository system.
The Reference Section of the Library caters to the research scholars of almost all the colleges in the region. Every care is taken to fetch books on recent scholarship. The Library has Reprographic facility which is an additional bonanza for the research scholars. The library is fully automated by SOUL 2.0 software and all books are bar-coded and WiFi enabled Library.
The College has published Library Hand Book- A User Manual highlighting on "How to make use of Library Resources including e-Resources". All Students and Staff are given a copy of this manual in the beginning of the academic year and trained by the Librarian through orientation Programmes. This is the best practice of our Library.
A virtual Library is having 36 Computer systems with high-speed internet facility, LCD projector, Headphones with Wireless Mic & Speaker and connected with UPS.
