Prof. D M Abdul Khader (Retd.) delivering a speech on the occassion of 'Teachers day' at the New Seminar Hall of our College. He praised the Management for giving values to retired teachers such as Prof. V M Nazeer Ahmed (COE), Dr Ghalib Hussain (Emeritus Professor) and others earlier for using their experiences to the service of the College. In the speech Prof Khader highlighted an incident related to Servapalli Radhakrishnan when he was teaching philosophy at a school. His 'black board' had enormous workout with lots of 'white' chalk-pieces strewn around. The then Mayor of Madras province (Lord Pentland) was visiting the school and remarked that Mr. Radhakrishnan was wasting Indian money by consuming so many chalk pieces for Philosophy subject. Daringly, Radhakrishnan replied, "Just look at the way 'whites' have been reduced to pieces as they dashed against a solid 'black' board". (The whites are referred as 'vellaikaran' and the blacks, us). The Mayor could just pat on the teacher for his courage and left the class room shrugging his shoulder.
